+ DOES THE SCHOOL NEED TO TRAIN ANYONE TO TEACH THE PROGRAM?

No. That's what we do! Best of all? No need to worry about outside staff, background checks or any other personell requirements. Race Adventures trains your teacher(s) or after-school staff how to run the program start to finish. Race Adventures® provides proprietary instruction manuals and student workbooks. Your staff will become familiar with the model kits students will build, and have prepared lesson plans to go over with the students.

+ WHAT DOES A TYPIAL RACE ADVENTURES® AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT CLASS ENTAIL?

Each after-school class period has a structured time-line, which is outlined in the Race Adventures® instructiion manuals and student workbooks. Each session of 6-8 classes progresses from the model-building process to the weekly races. The daily timeline includes: Track Construction, Welcome & Attendance, the Lesson, the Model Build, Weekly Race, Clean-Up, and Dismissal.

+ HOW DOES THE TYPICAL RACE ADVENTURES® IN-SCHOOL WORKSHOP WORK?

Workshops are very similar to our after school classes, except that these are usually a one-time events, and there is a higher focus on learning. The expectation is that students aren’t “used to” the kits and need a bit more help understanding the various pieces in the Project Kit and working through the instructions. For these reasons, work-shops require 4 hours minimum. We expect workshops to take place on school property, either in a classroom or in another room on campus. We work with the teacher, in advance, to plan a model build that fits into a topic or subject area he/she’s been covering at school. Saturday workshops are a great option!

+ CAN YOU DO A WORKSHOP FOR AN ENTIRE GRADE?

Yes! Every school is different, so it depends on the number of students. Typical workshops are the size of a single class (15-30 students). Larger workshops over 40 students require some advanced planning and timing, but they can be done! We recommend a student to teacher ratio of 12-to-1. Having a wider range of grades in te workshop allows teachers to have older students help the younger ones (assigning leadership roles).

+ HOW DO STUDENTS REGISTER FOR RACE ADVENTURES®?

Race Adventures® sets up a landing page for convenient registration of your students, or we can provide you with branded sign-up sheets. We can handle registration and payments directly through our secure website, or work with you to let you handle registration and payment. While we prefer to handle registration on our end, we are happy to route it back through you if that is your preference.

+ WHAT DO YOU CHARGE THE STUDENTS FOR RACE ADVENTURES®?

It's up to you! Run a weekly class and have students register in advance. Offer occasional workshops. Run a summer camp Mon-Fri. All of these are ways that you, the instructor, can make some extra income. We can help you set up an online registration page for students.

Traditionally, the Race Adventures® business model was to rent facilities at schools, train outside instructors, and keep all of the class materials. The new Provider Program gives you complete control over scheduling and cost to families.

+ HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ASSEMBLE A VEHICLE KIT?

The exact amount of time really depends on the techincal skills of a student, which can vary drastically, depending on a student's previous exposure to model-building. We've students in 1st grade put their cars together faster than students in 6th grade. This what will allow you to run the program for a certain number of days.

  • Elementary School Students: 3-4 HRS
  • Middle School Students: 2-3 HRS
  • High School Students: 1-2 HRS

+ HOW CUSTOMIZABLE ARE THE VEHICLE KITS?

Tamiya Mini 4WD kits are 100% customizable. There are hundreds of modifications available for students to personalize their cars. We offer the Modification Kit for providers, which is a bundle of discounted parts that are universally applicable to all chassis, so you don't have to worry if certain parts will work only with specific cars.
